土木工程专业在英国是怎样定位的

土木工程是研究如何应用科学原理和数学规划、施工和维护各种建筑和设施的学科，研究方向主要为：结构工程、交通工程、环境工程、水利工程、建设工程等，课程设置主要为：工程力学、岩土力学、地基与基础、工程地质学、工程水文学、工程制图、建筑材料、混凝土结构、工程机构等。有部分人认为“自上世纪50年代开始，由于国内土木工程的迅猛发展，特别是90年代后的超高速运行，导致当下的土木行业已经进入疲软期，甚至沦为夕阳产业。”因此，很多土木专业的学生在留学时都纷纷转向所谓的“高新（薪）朝阳产业”，如金融，互联网，电子商务等等。

然而土木作为一个国家/城市的基础产业，这个根本是不可动摇的。况且，在国家政策的带动下，不管是之前的西部大开发，还是当今时代的一带一路建设，走在前头的必然是公路、铁路等交通基建，然后是服务于交通的各项商业性、居住性基础建筑，最后是城市化的各种性质的基建工程。为土木行业创造了无数的就业机会、利润空间，土木工程产业也绝对会把握机遇，继续发展。
