2018美本申请新政

今年需要进行美国本科申请的同学们看过来，随着 8月1号Common系统的开放，2018年本科新生申请的大幕也已拉开。2018年美国本科新生申请有哪些新变革？以下内容，你需要特别注意哦！

一、 2017-2018最新版本的Common Application更新

今年更新主要在以下几部分 :

1、新增了9-11年级课程成绩的录入功能

这一变化表明随着世界各地高中学生课程结构越来越复杂， Common App也为大学评估学生高中阶段的学术表现提供了更加丰富的资源。

2、Common App文书题目有新增也有调整

新增两个题目，由原来五选一改为七选一：

6.Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more? [New]

译文参考：描述一个让你流连其中，甚至忘记时间的话题、想法、理念。为什么它吸引你 ?你想多学习时，会寻求什么/谁的帮助?(新增题)

7.Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you’ve already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.[New]

译文参考：题目自拟，可以是之前写好的文章，或者任何你自创的选题。 (新增题)

原来的 5篇文书3篇也有了微调：

a. The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? [有修改]（原题目：The Lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an Incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn?）我们从挫折中得到的经验教训对于以后的成功而言至关重要。讲讲你面对挑战，挫折或失败的时候，这一经历是如何影响你的，你又从中学到了什么？

b. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome? [有修改]（原题目：Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What Prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?）回忆你在什么时候曾质疑或挑战过一个信念或想法。什么促使你这样想？结果是什么？

c. Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others. [有修改]（原题目：Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood withiin your culture, community, or family.）讨论曾激发了你个人成长与对你自身或他人产生新认知的成就，事件或认识。

3、Common App和Google云盘整合，方便上传申请材料

很多美高采用 Google文档和Google云盘，目前新的Common App申请系统也将为学生提供一种直接从Google云端硬盘上传申请资料的方式。Common App系统和Google云盘整合后，学生可直接调用存在谷歌云盘上的申请材料，上传文件、简历、作业以及申请的补充资料等。但需要注意的是这一部分需要我们翻墙来操作，具体原因你懂得。

4、学生可邀请校外升学顾问辅导

之前学生可以邀请高中在校升学顾问参与申请过程，改变后的 Common App申请，学生还可以邀请校外资源，比如校外的申请顾问、独立咨询顾问及社区组织（community-based organizations）辅导自己的申请。

二、排名前 60的3所学校只能用CAAS系统申请

自 2016年的8月美国本科新的申请系统 Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success发布以来，逐渐有很多学校接受CAAS系统和Common系统2选1进行申请，CAAS系统大有和common系统分庭抗礼的趋势。

但是 2018年的本科新生申请，有3所学校要求必须要采用CASS系统。他们分别是：佛罗里达大学University of Florida，华盛顿大学西雅图分校University of Washington（Seattle），马里兰大学帕克分校University of Maryland（College Park）。

三、热门学校华盛顿大学西雅图分校申请截止时间提前

华盛顿大学西雅图分校 University of Washington（Seattle）作为近年来中国学生申请的热门学校，申请人数逐年增加，大大提高了申请难度。往年华大的申请截止时间是12月1日，无EA、ED申请，今年学校采用了CAAS申请系统，申请截止时间也提前至11月15日，较往年提前了半个月，有意向申请华大的同学要注意，提前做好申请准备。
